The Fairtrade Premium Committee decided to assist school-going learners with their school uniforms, at the start of the 2024 school year.

23 February 2024 marked the opening night of DTK Wines’ first collaborative art exhibition, as well as their first Student2Star exhibition.

As part of their year-end celebration, the 2Blossom Foundation gifted their art students with holiday kits for the December vacation. These holiday packs basic art supplies, toiletries and sweet and salty snacks.

As we approach the end of this year, we find ourselves pausing to reflect on the impactful journey we've experienced at the Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative in 2023.

On Friday, 10 November, Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative hosted a 16 Days of Activism event for the women from our Fairtrade farms. Advocate Cindy Abdol, from our neighbouring town Worcester, spearheaded a crucial discussion on violence against women and children.

We had another wonderful visit from the folks at 2Fellas Media, as part of another media project via the Fairtrade Foundation. They visited our brand new mobile library at the local primary school.

Student 2 Star is an opportunity for the learners to gain more in-depth experience about what it means to be a professional artist and how to prepare for an exhibition.

Every day, the cool, early morning rises over our Fairtrade projects, casting a warm glow on the individuals who make it all happen. So, we were excited when Fairtrade Africa and Two Fellas Media paid us a visit to capture a day of one of these very important individuals; Sanna Muller.

Our Fairhills Clinic is a fundamental part of the foundation of our Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative. The clinic existed out of the need to provide our Fairtrade employees with basic healthcare that is also easily accessible.

Our Angling Club is an invaluable facet of the Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative. Through participation in the Angling Club’s activities, we are offering our community members an opportunity to grow, learn, and build strong bonds.

Wednesday, 25 January, the teachers at Lorraine NGK Primary School hosted a special event to thank PSA (Public Servants Association of South Africa) for their generous donation of school equipment and gear.

The DTK Fairtrade Angling Club hosts children to retirees. People from all ages of the community get to connect and grow together, uplifting the Rawsonville community as a whole.

On 25 November Janneke Rutten, from 2Blossom Foundation, and Stan Beurskens, owner of St Martinus, visited our 2Blossom After School Arts & Crafts Centre.

The Young Shooters were established on Tierstel farm, but are made up of players from surrounding farms as well: Lorraine, Houmoed, and Florence. Most of which are also Fairtrade-accredited farms.

Our Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative office attended the Thetha Nathi Session in July. An invitation was sent to all NPOs Breede Valley Municipality.

Once a month the Visarende organises a Jukskei day. These days are family-orientated, shifting the focus away from competition, but rather focusing on building good relationships and quality time with family.
