Our ECD Centres

April 2024 - March 2025 Report

At Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative, we operate two registered ECD centres—Tierstel and Onderplaas—catering to children aged 3 months to 5 years. These centres offer a nurturing, play-based learning environment where children are encouraged to grow, explore, and develop in a safe and structured space.

The new intake for January 2025 shows a notable increase in enrolment, with 132 learners now attending our centres. Of these, 71 children are enrolled at Tierstel and 61 at Onderplaas. This rise reflects the growing trust parents place in our programme and the dedication of our educators.

A look back at 2024 class data shows steady growth across all age groups. The 2–3 year age group was especially well-represented at Tierstel with 20 learners, while Onderplaas had more children in the 3–4 year category, also with 20 learners. Both centres provided care for babies as young as three months, with equal numbers in this group across sites.

As we look ahead, the Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative remains committed to creating inclusive, high-quality learning spaces that support the broader national goal of universal ECD access.
